Level 2: Bigger Objects- Smooth Surface

Having already some experience in small objects scanning, we wanted to proceed in a larger scale of scan. We noticed that the Lidar camera demonstrates weaknesses in smooth and reflective surfaces.

This is why we made our next tests in a mannequin doll upper part from our workshop.

As we can see clearly from the image, we notice the texture’s to lack the realism they should comparing to the real object. The result we obtain is good in terms of details but feel more plastic than it should be.

We are working on finding a way to improve our engine, and obtain better textures.

Of course we are also working on improving the scanning environment in terms of lighting etc.
