"Tender Delusions"

"A child is always beautiful in its mother's eyes"
Maternal love is one of the strongest feelings a human can develop. Unconditional, unlimited and firm. In a romantic scenario, a child is the fruit of love between two people. Unfortunately, real life lacks the romantic component, and always did.
Being in love with someone, like she was, might have been nothing than a one-sided delusion. A demon, an ethereal creature, made of lust and ego, also known as Incubus in other folklore, found his prey on a young woman. She was a common village girl, innocent and pure. Life struck her hard, by losing her parents on her early 17, one after another through sickness and unending fever. After her grief and loneliness, who would have thought that she would find comfort in the hands of a demon. Everything started by having dreams, so vivid and nice. Starting innocent and pleasant, finding comfort and compassion.
Then, the dreams became much more intense, vivid… true. She started speaking in her dreams, dreaming on her waking, living with her beloved. The people in the village thought her crazy, “The poor girl totally lost her mind after her parents loss”. She didn’t care... she didn’t mind. She became distant, even more, isolated. Being weeks, or months, locked in her house, enjoying her love.
Then pregnancy came, the fruits of love soon to be collected. Now she had a new purpose, to raise her little angels. Once she gave birth, to 3 little girls, the demon got bored… His game with her was over, and he was soon gone. The delusions started to fade away… reality started to return as it should.
The beautiful, warm house was nothing more than an old, cold and dusty wooden cabin.
Her kids were nothing more than demon looking monsters... or more precisely, spider looking kids. With many eyes looking hungry at her, sharp teeth, creepy cries that a baby shouldn’t make.
Horror was obvious in her eyes. Her once beautiful little angels, were only monsters.
But she is a mother. And a mother always loves her kids...”
